Any companies quoted on the PLUS Stock Exchange will have been encouraged by its recent acquisition by one of the world’s largest interdealer brokers, ICAP.<\/p>\n

The London-based PLUS Stock Exchange (PLUS-SX) provides companies in the UK and around the world with access to European capital through a range of fully listed and growth markets. PLUS provides access to capital to those businesses entering into the public market for the first time through the growth market, supported by a quote-driven trading platform with competing two-way prices. The PLUS Stock Exchange was until recently owned by Plus Markets Group plc (PMG), who had warned of a possible shut-down this year after years of significant losses.<\/p>\n

Companies listed on PLUS no longer need to be listed elsewhere, however, as the news of the Exchange’s acquisition by ICAP was approved by PLUS shareholders at the general meeting held on 18 June, 2012. To ensure that approval, ICAP increased its original offer of the nominal consideration of \u00a2G1 to \u00a2G500,000 only days before the general meeting.<\/p>\n

ICAP will recapitalise the Exchange and finance the development of the market, believing it is well placed to offer new products and solutions, including plans to include listed derivatives. It has praised the positive response from small cap issuers and sponsors to its acquisition of PLUS.<\/p>\n
